The Michigan Mathematics and Science Teacher Leadership Collaborative is working to accomplish the following goals in order to best support science and mathematics education in Michigan:
- DEVELOP a cadre of TEACHER LEADERS with knowledge and skills necessary to help improve teaching and learning of mathematics and/or science in targeted high needs schools.
- ESTABLISH collaborative working RELATIONSHIPS among teacher leaders and building and district administrators with support from Michigan’s Mathematics and Science Centers and science and mathematics faculty from higher education institutions.
- IMPROVE mathematics and science LEARNING of students in targeted high needs schools.
- INCREASE CAPACITIES of the Mathematics and Science Centers and Institutions of Higher Education to SUSTAIN SUPPORT for teacher leaders and high needs schools around research based practices and educational content standards.
