Draft K-7 Science GLCE Companion Documents
The Michigan Department of Education is holding an online review of the upcoming K-7 Science GLCE Companion Document from Aug. 15 through Sept. 20. Using the wikispace created for this draft document, you can view the text of the proposed companion documents, which address the organization and grouping of the GLCEs for science in Michigan, as well as potential instructional plans and resources to support teacher use of the content expectations. While you can view the site without signing up, you will need to establish an account at wikispaces and request membership for each site to add comments to the discussion tabs. MDE hopes to receive lots of comments to guide in the creation of the final document. Please share this resource with other science educators in your school or region.

Math in Action Conference Call for Speakers
Planning is underway for GVSU’s 2009 Math In Action conference, which will take place in downtown Grand Rapids at the Pew Campus on February 25, 2009. This annual day-long event provides educational resources to K-12 mathematics educators in the West Michigan area. Speakers include college faculty in education, mathematics, mathematics education, and statistics, as well as leading K-12 mathematics educators. This conference annually draws more than 200 participants. The conference is seeking proposals from leading mathematics educators in the region and state.
